What days of the week are interviews typically offered? I have to schedule Step 2 CS and CK (probably aiming to take them sometime between Oct-Dec), but wanted to ensure I don't conflict with interviews and have to reschedule at the last minute

Your best bet in order to avoid any scheduling conflicts would be to not take those tests during those months. If you have to, I can say with reasonable confidence that 90% interviews are offered on th-fr-sat-monday. I had one sunday interview, and heard some friends interview on sundays as well. But never heard tuesday or wednesday.

A couple programs have 2013 interview dates listed on their websites, and Wills is interviewing on Mon-Tues, Dec 2-3. I saw some posts about how it's helpful to create a calendar of potential interview dates, but it seems like very few programs have anything listed yet. I heard that SF Match has a centralized list, so I guess we just wait until it opens. (???)

I had interviews every day of the week but Sunday two cycles ago (and at least three places I applied had Sunday interview dates). It's difficult to avoid running into interview-date conflicts that prevent you from interviewing everywhere you've been offered an interview, so I would echo the advice above to take Step 2 some other time. If you absolutely must take it between October and December, I would take it in October, as most of the interviews (at least two cycles ago) were in November and December.

Take Step 2 in January. You need to have your schedule open for an interview anytime between October and the middle of December. Step 2 should be an afterthought if you are not trying to make up for a sub-subpar Step 1 score.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like there really isn't a safe day (except maybe Sat). We have to take Step 2 before the New year, but I have a strong step 1 and don't want to take step 2 too early at the risk of not doing well. What's the SFMatch list and when does it come out? That would be really helpful if I could see the dates when schools are having interviews

October doesn't have as many interviews. They pick up mid to late october for the most part.

There is no 'safe day.' I can speak from the previous admissions cycle that everything seemed to be somewhat random. My first interview was Oct 22 (and I think that was one of the first interview dates offered, maybe one or two other programs were before that). My last date was Dec. 10, and I think a few interviews went into the next week. All of my interviews were on Thurs - Fri - Sat (NO Sun) and 1 on Monday.

You will find that some programs like to space out their interviews (eg. every Thursday for 4 weeks), some like to random (eg. Saturday in Oct and Monday in Dec) and some like to make a weekend out of it (eg. Thurs, Fri, Sat all in the same week).

I personally got together with another applicant at my school and made a google calender of the interview dates that were available on the SF match website in June. Turns out that it wasn't extremely helpful, but if there are a few programs you would give up any interview date for a chance to go there, it helps you choose another date for another program and essentially 'save' that place on your calender. It also helps show you the dates that will be popular and avoid those at all costs (the Friday before ARVO, the Friday before Thanksgiving).
