I have two interviews on December at Columbia and USC. I have two others in December and finally one in Jan. I read on the other thread how you have a nearly 100% acceptance if you have an interview before dec.so I was wandering if I should wait it out until one week before the interviews to buy the airplane tickets for the ones in december? You see...There is no refund for the tickets you buy on the internet. So what do you say? Thanks.

Were u referring to Columbia when you were talking about 100% chance of acceptance?

Does it matter wether its from Columbia or UOP? If its UOP then you have a high chance right? I wonder if UOP is different this year compared to last year.

Hey there,

Due to confusion with regards to my reference letters, my applications were on hold at the schools I applied to : BU, Tufts, USC and UoP. I think my application was only complete around September 15th or so. I have only heard from BU and I have an interview on January the 13th at the school. I am wondering if this is a bad thing since it is after December 1st, and I have read that acceptances are mailed out after this date. Do I still have a good chance at being accepted to BU? Also, if I haven't heard from the other schools yet, does that mean im doomed? I am especially concerned with UoP, since my fiancee has a potential PhD position at UCSF.

Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Nothing is 100%........... EVER. Don't get a false sense of security. Having said that, I'm sure your chances are GOOD, but not 100%.

This 100% myth may have started because schools send out their first acceptances Dec. 1st. So people interviewed before December are:
A) Really on top of their application, so probably a good applicant to begin with
B) Not being compared to everyone who will eventually apply
C) Potentially the first ones to be accepted

But remember, most schools are on a rolling admission basis. I didn't have my first interview until February, and still got in. I recommend applying earlier, but listen to predentchick when she says there are no guarantees.

Also, different schools do it differnetly. I had a real early interview at Arizona (Emailed Oct 1st or 2nd) and was feeling really good about that. Unfortunately, Arizona only admits 50% of their class in December and holds out the other half with rolling admissions way into the new year. --not so good for me 😡

Other schools like UoP fill up real fast and if you're not inteviewd by Jan then your chances drop significantly. And since I have not heard from UoP...not so good for me! 😡

To summarize...not so good for me! 😡

J/k I'm not sweating it too much. If I don't get in I can always be a truck driver or sumpn.
