Hello everyone! I am new to this forum so I guess I'll start with a little intro.
I am a 19 year old freshman college student attending a community college and planning on applying to two colleges and hopefully get my DVM. Veterinarian school wasn't my first choice of schooling, in fact for 6 years I always wanted to become a pharmacist, and then I realized how I wouldn't enjoy working inside every day and I also love animals.

I do need some advice though and maybe see if anyone has felt the way I am feeling. Never in my life did I think I could get a doctrine degree, and the idea that my goal and aspiration to get one is kind of scary to say the least, and I am kind of doubting if I will be able to do it. I have been around animals all my life and I have job shadowed a vet a few times and plan on doing it much more after I recover from my surgery, but I've never been the one to look at a picture of an animal's internal organ and be able to pick out what is what, which makes me doubt even more. I know I should be optimistic since I haven't even really started my education and am only getting my foundation right now, but I am doubting myself.

Has anyone felt this way when they were starting out or even when they were in the vet program?

Thank you for reading 🙂

How are you doing in your classes now? If you're getting good grades now (as in mostly A's and B's), then you don't have any reason to think you won't continue to meet the demands of your classes.

Don't worry about not knowing anatomy right now. If you've never studied it, how would you expect to know it? That's what we have school for! One thing you might do is sign up for an anatomy course at your school next semester. If you really struggle with that class, then you probably will have an actual problem and would need to reconsider things. But honestly, you will probably do just fine.

It sounds like you're on the right track. Focus on doing well in your classes and learning what you can from your shadowing experience. Good luck!

Hi 🙂 Actually I did get 2 B+s and 2 As last semester and I am taking an A&P course also.

I guess it's just a little nerve racking right now since I don't know a whole lot.

Seriously, it sounds like you are doing fine. Keep doing what you're doing. Relax and enjoy the process. Eventually you'll look back and realize that many of the things that once seemed impossible have become second nature. It's a process everyone goes through, so have fun with it!

Yup, did you know how to read before you learned?! Did you know your multiplication tables before you learned?! Of course not!

You're doing great. Keep up the good grades and enjoy the learning process and have fun!

Thanks everyone! I am super excited and your right have to walk before I run, and in most cases crawl before I walk haha.
