I've seen some jobs for hospitalists that require intubations (rural hospitals with open ICU). I assume I need to have a minimum number documented to get that privelege or I won't be able to get those jobs. Anyone know what is a good number of intubations to get logged prior to finishing residency so that I can get this privelege?

Not a straightforward thing! You can intubate a lot in the OR, but this does not equate to managing a crashing patient in the ICU or on the floor. At minimum, do one month of anesthesia and learn everything you can about the pharmacology of induction and paralysis. Then take a difficult airway course. Become and expert at bag-mask ventilation and know how to place an LMA and use a bougie. Make sure you have a glide scope. This is not something you want to take lightly. Dealing with an airway is scary and difficult, and if you don't know how to bail yourself out of trouble, you will be dangerous!

Wish I could like more than once.
