I've heard that most programs are pretty accomodating when it comes to interviews. Just out of curiousity, how much notice do schools give you when they offer you an interview for residency? I'm just trying to figure out how much these plane tickets are going to cost me if they give me an interview date that is 3 wks away or something.

it depends on your specialty. some of the surgical subspecialties - ortho comes to mind - only interview on 2-3 days a year. if you don't get one of those days then you're SOL. most programs will give you at least several weeks. regardless, schedule your interviews as soon as you get the invite.
