Iowa Interview

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
First post on the SDN and it's an IA acceptance!!! 🙂

I have to admit though, that I've been another one of those "lurkers" on this site for quite some time...and thank you to everyone who has posted anything at all in regards to this process--it helped to see that there were other people freaking out as badly as I was yesterday!

Congrats to all those who got in--hope I'll meet some of you next year!!! I'm crossing my fingers for all you alternates as well!!!

Hey everyone! I'm a newbie 🙂. I found out that I'm waitlisted for Iowa State - I'm pretty bummed about it because I REALLY wanted to go here! I realize that it's not a "no," but it's not a "yes" either 🙁. I emailed Brenda at Admissions to see if she'll give me my waitlist number. I still have an interview at Illinois and waiting to hear from UF and Wisconsin. I've received a bunch of rejects, too.

In the meantime, I'm starting my back-up plan in case I don't get accepted anywhere (I applied to 11 schools total!), which would consist of applying to grad schools and zoological internships (and re-applying to vet school next year).

BTW - in case no one else noticed (haha), can I just say that this application process is SO f-ing stressful! UGH! :scared:

kekemapa04, I'm so sorry. Hang in there.

I e-mailed Brenda to find out. CONGRATS on getting in to your first choice but yes, $ is important too! Then again, what's $150,000 debt vs. $200,000? 😛

I just emailed her and she said she couldn't tell me my ranking unless I had a legitimate reason! What was your's?!

I took the day off work today to observe some more surgeries at the small animal clinic where I have been volunteering on Saturdays. I purposely did not check my email till I got home 30-minutes ago because I did not want to read the email in the clinic. But I should have...because I have been accepted to Iowa!!! yeah!!! Vet School, here I come...I get to work with animals all day long now.

Congrats on all the others who were accepted today. Good luck waitlisters! Keep your eye on the final target for those who received unfavorable news from IA today...your day will come soon.

A huge congrats to all of you accepted!!! I hope to see your smiling faces this fall 😀

For those on the waitlist: I was waitlisted last year and found out I was admitted on April 25th. Not that I remember the date or anything.... Last year, they weren't giving out waitlist numbers, but I hear it moved quite a bit.

kekemapa: I am so sorry 🙁 I know how devastating rejections are. Don't give up hope.

Thanks, it was just so hard because I would have gone there over my IS school....it was my #1 choice. To make matters worse, my best friend got in. Not that I am not happy for her, it just made it that much harder to be rejected....

They go out tomorrow... hopefully we'll get them soon! Anyone not staying on the list?

I called Brenda and she said that they're being mailed later today. I didn't ask about my number again, lol. It's killing me that I still don't know! I'm definitely staying on the list, though... even if I'm last!

Bummer... what's taking them so long?!

Yay for the Iowa acceptances! Good luck to the waitlist people, I imagine that thing will move =o). Sorry to the rejections. I hope it works out somewhere for you this year. If not, there are plenty of people on this board that are 2nd or more time applicants. It can be done and you can still get into a great school next year!

I hope the alternate list moves DARN QUICKLY! Based on last year's stats it very well might! :luck: Thanks for the positive outlook, Bobdog!

Just an FYI-- they originally accepted 60 OOS/non-contract students last year and went down the list 128. Here's hoping! :luck:

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let people know that I got my rejection letter from Iowa postmarked for February 21st.. I just got back from my Minnesota interview and there it was sitting in the mailbox waiting for me.

I was pretty much expecting it, and now at least I know for sure! 😛

CONGRATS to everyone who was accepted and GOOD LUCK to those waitlisted! 🙂

I'm sorry, adOggy. 🙁 We're pulling for you for MN, though!!

Thanks VAGirl!! I'm hoping so too! 😀

My alternate letter and number was postmarked Feb. 20th. They said no alternates will be given consideration until AFTER April 15 (the date accepted students have to claim their coveted spot). Then they start going down the line. Good luck all!

adOggy-- good luck with Mn! That's my top choice too (and I'm IS but not sure what to think!)!:luck:
