iPad Pro for D1?

Hey guys I am an incoming D1. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether they would recommend an iPad for taking notes and general usage, specifically the iPad pro? I currently already have a macbook pro, but it is from high school so I am worried it may die during dental school.

I have both the new iPad pro and Macbook pro. I never use the iPad for anything and Id hate to take notes and use it on a regular basis. You're going to have to get a case with a keyboard attachment anyways so its essentially going to be the same as a laptop. You may prefer a macbook air. About the same price as the new iPad pro as well.

However, my experience was that the macbook air would get bogged down when I had a lot of things going on like lots of tabs for research papers. I have not had this problem with the new pro.

I'm debating getting both. I know I will probably have to get a MacBook Pro as per school requirements they gave students last year. But I am highly debating getting a 9.7 iPad Pro to take to school and use it for notes and reviewing when I'm out of the house etc.

Then using my MacBook Pro for document design, file organizing, creating study guides and doing research etc.

School said we can use either a MacBook or anything running Windows 10. I was just wondering if I should add the iPad if it is more convenient for note taking or not

If the iPad pro is an option, I'd just get a Macbook Air for a comparable price and have the keyboard to go along with it.

If you get 8gb of RAM on your Macbook Air, you have a machine that's essentially identical to the Pro, for school purposes.

I think the idea is the super portability of the iPad Pro and the fact that you can write on it to take notes.

If the OP is wondering if the iPad Pro should be his sole device, I agree with you. Assuming the OP has another desktop/PC/Mac at home then I think IPad Pro would be better.

If you want to replace your laptop, get another laptop, thin and light like a Macbook Air/new Macbook Pro/Windows Ultrabook

If you want something to take to class while still keeping a computer at home, get a tablet with a keyboard attachment (test out the different keyboards first to see if you're comfortable taking notes on that specific keyboard - makes a huge difference if you're taking notes 3 hrs a day)
