Can you load skyscape s/w onto it or is it via wireless only? Is the iphone a viable palm/pocketpc alternative for a resident or should i stick with my 5-year palm?

Looked quickly, and it looks like you have to be connected to the Internet. Could be wrong?

The skyscape products ROCK! The pocket Clinical Anesthesia version of Barash and Epocrates on my Moto Q have gotten me out of some jams in the holding area.

I am interested to see how peeps do with these programs on the Iphone before I buy it. Is it easy to use since it is a webapp for now, they are still working on a downloaded application. How is the reception of phone and 3g data in the hospitals, which are usually built like bunkers. If any of you pholks have iphones with the skyscape apps, lets get some feedback.

Thanks.

I guess I am lucky because I have wifi in all OR'S...My at&t reception honestly in the OR is pretty poor so without the wifi the skyskape apps may not be so good on the iphone. In my situation though, with wifi...skyscape works great and I couldn't be happier with my iphone. the thing is friggin awesome. Keeps me well entertained during doring cases

I was a dedicated pocket PC guy, but not anymore. I did have to repurchase my skyscape programs since I last bought them a few years ago. drugs.com program is free though

if your not happy you can return the iphone within 30 days

Epocrates is an amazing program on the iphone. At first I thought it would require internet service but the way the program works is that you download the basic application. Once you log-in, it will connect to the server and download all the information onto your iphone. From there on, you only need to connect to the internet for updates (much easier to do on this via WiFi or 3G or Edge than having to get out the dock cables). The program itself, once you download the updates, runs directly off your phone

The only drawback is that this is the free version and there isn't anything online suggesting that you can get the premium or deluxe versions which would contain all the extra goodies.

epocrates is really great. The other day on acute pain rounds, a patient asked me what one of th pills she was about to take was. I had no idea, but using epocrates, I put in the shape, color, and writing - and it turned out to be her blood pressure pill. It was pretty cool. When you search on a drug, it gives you the picture of the pill.

Has anyone got the Netter app? Will it be useful for regional?

Not a medical app, but check out enigmo.

I also dropped from my one carrier over to Rogers (AT&T) to get this new creation. Now that I've made the jump, I will never be able to go back to anythink else.😎

at&t service is awful but the phone itself makes it all ok

So all of the med apps require Skyscape connectivity? I have been tempted to jump on it for a while but still hesitant because my PPC has all of my med programs right now.

Would like to say I use it for medically related stuff. But my iphone 3g is locked into my fidelity web site and ebay. I'm a killer on ebay now👍 Great app to get is shazam (it samples music through the microphone and tells you what song and artist is playing) pretty freaking sweet. The other one is myLite (it's a great flashlight in the OR when doing laparoscopic cases) and I used the rock concert lighter setting for the Coldplay concert.

I haven't, but I'd be interested in hearing thoughts on it, too.
