IPhone + Pathology = LUUUUV

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
this is awesome! so, we can download the flashcards to an iphone?

Now... try and imagine being able to preview your cases securely with increased dedicated secure bandwidth.......

It will probably happen. You obviously will not be signing out (most will not have the cojones) but you can triage cases if they are loaded onto a server for you.

Bioinfomatics (fingerprint/thumbprint recognition) will be incorporated into the logon for a specific remote sign out session.

Who knows what the geniuses in Palo Alto or Bombay will do in the coming years.

The key is to not be a Luddite.

Unfortunately you have to jailbreak it.... This will immediately void your warranty. So do not do it unless you don't care about the 400-500 dollars you plopped down. Most of the time there will not be a problem but if you have one I'm not sure how forgiving MAC will be in replacement/repair.

I'm hoping the next generation will allow using third party apps.

I use these apps on my ipod touch.

It would be cool to make and share flash card data bases with eachother though would it not?

it would indeed. bitchin.

Flashcard Exchange works through your browser.. works great! Check it out..

Yeah. Nice site. This is actually the site that had the iFlash option as one of their download formats.👍
Lets try and fill out some of the surgpath and CP flash card banks.

Matte, you need to talk to some Wharton ppl and maybe some (good) CS people to make this happen. Anyone say startup?

Meh. Given how much of a pain in the *** it is to use Aperio slides on a desktop, I doubt this program will be useful on an iphone. And the flashcard appjust makes it a glorified palm pilot.

If you could view a dynamic image, then it might have some practical applications. And not to sound fanboyish, but if you want a handset to use for pathology informatics, then an open platform like Android is probably a better bet.

I'm not up to date on this, but I believe iPhones sold today cannot be jailbroken and work as a cell phone at the same time. Something about baseband versions. Basically, you can turn your iPhone into an iPod touch.

Not sure... I have seen this app on Iphones that are working as phones.
As mentioned earlier in this thread if uncertain it is better to use safari and just log onto the website.

There are ways (MAC supported) to make applications for the Iphone/Touch.

The Aperio slides still works though...

Aperio has improved significantly though it has a long way to go.

What does fanboyish mean Adrian?

Android does seem pretty cool..

They at least know to do something useful with the technology. I'm not sure anyone has ever looked at the smallest possible screen size one can use to view (or preview) live images, but at least they're going straight for the ultraportable, and if it turns out to be feasible, then it will change the way pathology is practiced.

When internet nerds deride one kind of technology to champion another, when in the grand scheme of things, it has very little value. Best personified by those arguing about the Xbox 360 vs. Playstation 3, or MacOS vs. Vista vs. Linux.

If you don't know what it means, it just means you have a life outside of the internet. 🙂
