My 8 year daughter received an iPod Shuffle from my best friend for Christmas. His 2 sons who are my daughter's age also received the same from him.

But my daughter has no interest in it. But her dad is now addicted to it.
I started to download songs last night...those CDs I don't own but always thought I would buy... beats buying CDs...I guess?

Here are some songs.. and if you think "wii" and "star trek" is nerdy...:meanie:

Extreme - More than words
James Taylor - Fire and Rain
Dream Academy - Life in a Northern Town
Night Ranger - Sister Christian
Green Day - Time of your life
Josh Groban - You raise me up
Mod English - Melt with you
Brian McKnight - One last cry..

Most of the 80's rock music..I have CD for will be added when I get home..👍

To make this pharmacy related.. I'm trying to see if I can run complex analysis while listening to music.. I've never tried it. Can you study with music?

I think you just threw your "I'm this awesome clinical pharmacist who knows way more than you about anything pharmacy related" persona in the trash when you listed Brian McKnight :meanie:.

I have a Sublime CD in the kitchen that I turn on to start studying, but half-way through the second song I start feeling anti-establishment, so I have to turn it off. So... no, I can't really study with music. Although, I can listen to music when I write papers. It usually helps when I need some inspiration.

I have a playlist on the computer that I start when I want to relax or sleep- one Björk song, Fiona Apple, Nick Drake, and one Pink Floyd song (Shine on You Crazy Diamonds). The songs are in that order. Ninety percent of the time, I have to listen to it to fall asleep. It's a little sad actually.

I just added some 80's songs to my MP3 player. I want to listen to them at the gym. Here's a few: Jessie's girl, Your Love (The Outfield), You Might Think I'm Crazy (Cars), Der Kommissar (Falco), Stand By Me (Ben E. King).

Now I have to leave for work. See y'all later. Happy New Year everyone!

Journey - Wheel in the Sky
Genesis - That's All
The Eagles - Desperado
Foreigner - Head Games
Bob Seger - Against the Wind

Just a few in the "25 most played" in my iPod

I have quite an interesting selection in my iPod too!

Twice as Hard - Black Crowes
Lose My Breath - Destiny's Child
Beautiful Ways - Pat McGee Band
The Denial Twist - White Stripes
Ignition - R Kelly
Burn - Usher
Back Where I Come From - Kenny Chesney

A little bit of everything! I can usually work with music on, but I can't study to music with lyrics. I do have a classical CD that is good if it's not too loud - It's called Energize and Focus and has a variety of songs from different composers.

I'm not really that clinical..

All, awesome picks! Yep, I think you and I are about the same age. And no I can not study with music. Dead silence! My 8 year old loves his MP3 and so does our 6 year old. Their Daddy is addicted to his and I always run with mine!

I have a variety -
Every Blue October disc, Bright Eyes, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage,
HURT, Son Volt, Ryan Adams, Jackson Browne, Dashboard Confessional, Breaking Benjamin, Damien Rice, Alice in Chains, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Beck, Dave Matthews/Band/Tim Reynolds, Foo Fighters, Pete Yorn, 311, Tool, Johnny Cash.

Favorite songs:
Blue October - Hate Me, Schizophrenia, Drop, HRSA, Quiet Mind, Black Orchid.

always study or work with music, hate quiet.

couldn't study and can't work without music...except when i work with impolite, close-minded people who don't ask before they turn the music off!!!

i just reorganize my ipod...gimme a few days, let's see what my most played are!

I got a new laptop this fall and was so busy with school that I haven't really listened to much music on it.

I could dig up my old hard drive and list my top 25 but that sounds like too much work (I just put in 97.75 hours on the last pay period and then got called in for 6 hours tonight. I'm tired. frankly breathing sounds like too much work at the moment.)

but my standbys are anything by The Cure, Cursive, The Good Life, Rilo Kiley, Ryan Adams, Pedro the Lion, Alkaline Trio, Interpol, New Order, Jawbreaker, etc.

I like a lot of music but I tend towards 80s new wave and some early 2000s indie stuff. I admit it that I'm annoyed and resent it that "indie" bands I listened to >5 years ago are now on the radio 🙁 back when I was cool and a hipster.

I have to admit that I love 80s buttrock (we are thoroughly enjoying Guitar Hero at our house). There is no such thing as too much Journey.

My most played artists are The Libertines, Belle & Sebastian, The Shins, Arcade Fire and The Fratellis. I'll be downloading the Band of Horses album this week.

All I have on my ipod are Buddha Bar, Ultra CDs (chill, dance, and trance; I like chill the best), and Thrive mixes.

Oh, there's also this classic Christmas song collection my grandfather made for my mom about 20 odd years ago. It was originally on cassette tape, and my boyfriend transferred it to an mp3 format for me for Christmas (I was worried about the tape decaying). I only listen to that during Christmas time when I'm decorating or wrapping gifts.

I sometimes listen to music while I'm studying, but it has to be instrumental only. I also don't care for those people who can't work while listening to music! It makes the day go by so much more quickly.

The best place I worked at was where the pharmacist brought his satellite radio to work-- I am definitely going to do something like that where I work at eventually. Especially since I'm considering working the night shift (I believe I will need a lot of music for that).

The Clash - Rock the Casbah
The Eagles - Busy Being Fabulous
Ivete Sangalo - Trem das Onze
Janet Jackson - Ma Baby
John Mayer - Bigger Than My Body
Justin Timberlake f/Timbaland - Release
The Killers - Change My Mind
Ne-Yo - All Because of You
Nelly Furtado - Do It
Rooney - When Did Your Heart Go Missing
Sergio Mendes - (The entire Timeless album)
Shakira - La Tortura
T-Pain f/ Akon - Bartender
Aaliyah - Back & Forth

Somewhat eclectic mix of 80's, alternative, Top 40, R&B, and Brazilian music 👍

Does "nice tight Christmas sweater" ring a bell? 😛

Yeah it does...I think I was making a comment about spiriva's avatar...

So that makes me dirty?

mostly Pink floyd, Led Zeppelin, 311, incubus, metallica (pre-black album), beck, radiohead, jack johnson, sublime, beastie boys, smashing pumpkins, STP, Ramones, eric clapton, cream, techno, etc, etc
