So I was answering Q 101 DAT DESTROYER. The answer makes sense. However, if IR radiation is absorbed when the molecule has a dipole, why then alkyne has 2 peaks( 2200 and 3300)? Does alkyne have dipole? I thought it is symmetrical.

Only terminal alkynes will show the 2 peaks around 2200 and 3300. Internal alkynes are symmetrical and therefore will not show any peaks.
