HI,
ANYONE PUTTING IN AN APPLICATION IN 2004 FOR IRELAND/UK?? i WAS GOING TO WAIT TO START THIS THREAD TILL FALL, BUT HAVE CHANGED MY MIND.
SO HERE IT ITS.......

As you know, I will be applying for 2004.

I am not too picky about which university accepts me, but I have eliminated RCSI for financial reasons.

I will hopefully be applying with a 3.89 from a second degree. I will be completing the MCAT in April, so I might only be accepted to the 6-year program.

It is not a big deal whether it takes me 5 or 6 years to finish my degree. The journey is half of the fun.

I will be applying for Fall 2004 entry to the Irish schools, assuming I get in nowhere else (which I feel is a safe bet!). Hopefully I'm proven wrong!

I hope so, too.

And not only for the fact that there would be less competition...hehehe😛

That is a great attitude. What an adventure.

I would love to! However, if I don't get in this year, I can't justify spending the money or time in limbo awaiting and answer, if they can't give me a better idea of what the applican't pool is like or what they want to see improved in my application. That being said, I relize that the prosess is very subjective due to it's cultural bend and that makes it, along with a highly varied applicant pool, hard to say. So, I guess no I will be out of the running after this try! better luck to you all who to resubmit next year.😀

Can anyone tell me any specifics about applying to Ireland med schools? I read that they only look at your last 3 years of undergrad grades. Is there any truth to that?

Also, where can I find an application online? I also want to apply for Fall 2004 and was wondering what the deadlines were.

Thanks in advance, and good luck to whoever is still waiting for spots to open up.

You can get all of the general information from www.atlanticbridge.com. They will be your liaison for the 4 Irish medical schools. You have to email them with some specific information and they will mail you an application that is good for all 4 medical schools.

I believe the deadlines are in October and November, but they will accept late applications up to January or even early February.

McGill Grad is right...check out the site...however, it is VERY sketchy on details. You will pay a $75 usd app fee per school, so it's not cheap. Definitely apply early (think October/November). As far as them only looking at the last 3 years of grades, I think that's a crock. Don't assume anything....if you really want to know that then give them a call but I don't think they have a policy like that.

The Irish schools look at your cumulative GPA, I believe. So there isn't any truth into them looking at your last 3 years. However, the Aussie schools weight the years differently, so they may only look at your last 3. However, the Aussie schools translate your GPA into their GPA, so you don't have to worry about it when you send your application in. Maybe this is where you heard that kind of thing and it got crossed.
