Lab companies Quest and CPL face lawsuits in Ireland over missed cervical cancer diagnoses

Ireland decided to out source most of the pap smears to Quest and CPL.
I have watch this scandal evolve in past few months. It does sounds like a lot of missed cases have now been identified.

The big box labs have taken over paps as many smaller lab have given up the service. Bad oversight can have an oversized impact when these labs are so large.

I wonder if they followed CLIA standards on foreign patients

Sounds like the labs are blaming Ireland for not paying for imaging and/or HPV contesting. Since when is manual screening so bad? We used to do it for decades quite successfully at the labs I have worked at.

Pap screening goes to the lowest bidder typically. Pap industry has always been a mess since the test was a loss leader for so long.

Get your daughters vaccinated is the lesson to be learned.
