So I got a 3.0 gpa one semester which is bringing my overall down to a 3.61, which I know isn't terrible but it's below average and on the low side. I am an engineering major which I think might help a little

anyway, my other semesters are all above a 3.75 (no 4.0's tho)

any advice/relate?

It will still be considered in admissions in that it will be factored into your cumulative GPA.

Being an engineering major won't provide you as much of a boost as you think it will. It will be looked at like "oh, they majored in engineering, nice" rather than "oh this person got a 3.0 one semester in engineering courses, that's equivalent to a 3.8 in non-engineering courses!"

All that said, if you have a real reason why you did poorly (family tragedy, personal illness, etc.) then the semester may be overlooked, especially if you continue to do better and continue to have an upwards trend.

One bad semester..eh, it happens. 3 straight semesters towards the end of college? That would be a red flag. You're fine.
