Hi all
-I have just graduated and I only have roughly 2 months to study for DAT. Do you think that is enough time?

-Also, I want to know if kaplan book is a good start? I'm planning to go through DAT destroyer, AP biology and crack the DAT for PAT. Do you have any suggestion about these or do you think there is more I should study?

-How bad does it affect my admission to a dental school if I take DAT twice in case I do bad on the first one?

It depends on how much quality studying time you can handle. Check out this thread for some sample breakdowns and schedules: http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=992975

The bottom line is that the 2 month time frame can be done, but it won't be easy. Not saying that if you have an extra month it will be easier, but you just have less time to work with.

The Kaplan book is okay to start with but you have the right idea going with more resources. I also suggest Chad's Videos for chemistries. As far as retaking, I don't think they will mind as long as its an improvement from the first one. GL with everything and make sure you utilize this forum for any questions you have as the knowledge pool here about the test is invaluable.

2 months is plenty. By the end you'll forget things, esp for Bio. I studied in 6 weeks, got 21+ across the board. Its doable. Study hard, I studied 7 hours a day hardcore during that time!

I studied for two months and it was just fine. Spent about 3-4 weeks of the first month memorizing material and the last month applying the material I learned. Look at DAT breakdowns on this forum for ideas on what study materials to use.

Two months is plenty if you dedicate yourself to it. I spent about three months(2 months were probably 2-4 hours a day and the last month was 5-6 leading up to 12 hour days the week of) and did fine.

It won't look bad to do bad once and then do better. Just know that you can only take it 3 times and you have to wait about 3 months after one before you can retake, so don't ever take the DAT as a "practice run" or when you aren't 100% prepared. You can move the date around up until the last few days prior to the exam and its worth the fee to push it back a week or two if you aren't prepared well enough.

Edit: Not to mention the test costs a small fortune to register for.
