Is anyone else way more laid back this time around?

When I applied last cycle, I was insanely wired, all the time. I wanted to know every detail of everything that was going on. For the one interview that I got, I read the entire interview feedback for the last 3 years, plus tons of stuff on ethics, two books on health policy...I obsessed over which suit to get, how to do my hair, heels or flats....In short, I was a mess!!

This cycle though, I am much more on top of things than I was last time. I got my AMCAS in sooner, I have a less than 24 hour turn around on all of the secondaries that I've done so far (9), and I'm overall just much more relaxed about the whole thing.

Have I lost my mind, or is this the case for other people too?

I would not say more laid back, I would say more on top of things like you were saying. Previously I was taking the Aug MCAT and worrying about the score, but now I am early in the cycle and the MCAT is done. Congrats on getting a quick turnaround, I wish I had the time to get a quicker turnaround, mine is more like 1-2 week turnaround.

Just make sure you have someone review them, as I miss little mistakes that I send to one of my friends and they pick it up immediately.

Good luck on this cycle, hope we both get in.

Between my three applications, I became increasingly more organized and more prepared, not more relaxed.

Yep. After going through and making mistakes the first time around, the best part of the rolling admissions is that once the cycle is over, it is already June. You have a chance of doing it right this time. AMCAS has your stuff already filled out. All you have to do is make proper modifications to your PS, activities, etc. You apply early, get everything in, learn from your past mistakes, then certainly the 2nd time around can potentially be more pleasant.

My first time around I applied late with a 26 MCAT. Got waitlisted and never got off. The second time around, I improved my MCAT, got my AMCAS in early, completed my application by the end of august, and then got into my first choice school on October 15, the earliest a medical school can offer acceptances. Let's just say I experienced the best and the worst of the rolling admissions.
