so i just took the oat today for the first time and i'm applying for entrance this fall. well my score is blah- 290 AA, 290 science. i earned a degree but not in a science and my gpa was 3.43 nothing stellar. probably my strong point is that i've been working as ophthalmic assistant/surgical assistant for a year so i'm making a well-informed decision to enter optometry. but b/c of my very average application and i didn't apply early (october-novemberish) i'm feeling verry worried about no one interviewing me. i guess i'm just look for some support or some stories where people were accepted with similar stats. i would take the oat again, but for this year it would be too late, or would it? any support or words of wisdom would be appreciated! no one i know is going through this

your OAT is not that bad. it is slightly under the national average of 300 i believe (although the average of accepted applicants is around 330 i believe). no worries though, as your GPA is pretty good. your EC will serve you well. stay confident... i didn't think i would get in this year either, but i did - granted i was lucky, but i guess a little bit of luck never hurt, hehe. good luck!! 🙂

Call the schools that you have applied to and just ask... they'll probably be happy to end your agonizing wait! I think that you should probably consider retaking the OAT. But, only take it again if you really can improve. If you aren't willing to put in MORE time studying, then getting the same score twice won't look so hot! Hang in there! Best of luck... p.greeneyes :luck: :luck:
