If anyone is going to the PCOM open house tomorrow, I would really appreciate it if you could get the stats for the new DO class starting this year. They usually give the stats, at least they did last summer and I would really like to know. Many thanks

I was presenting at a conference in Philly this past weekend and met a few PCOM students, and subsequently took an unofficial tour of the school with them. I'm definitely sold on PCOM now and if I get in I'm withdrawing everywhere else immediately... One of the students mentioned the stats of the 2014 class at 3.5 cGPA / 27 MCAT.

Funny thing is... those are my stats exactly. Hope they show me some love even though I'm just a typical run of the mill average applicant now 🙁

You're not an average applicant, you're an average MATRICULANT. Big difference (in a good way obviously ).

Ahhh you guys are awesome. I feel like there's so much more optimism and camaraderie with the pre-osteos than the pre-allos.

The average stats stay pretty consistent with PCOM....and a 27 is a solid score for PCOM. I wouldnt really want to drop below that however. PA residency is a HUGE thing for PCOM FYI. Debra Benvinger will flat out tell you this at an info session. The deck is hugely stacked for in staters. I cant remember the exact stats but if you get an interview as a PA instater you are pretty much going to get accepted unless you fck up that interview!

That is because everyone here is more concerned with becoming a physician...regardless of how we get there. Over in pre allo they are obsesssssed with being internet tough guys (Although I will admit it is fun to go over there are fck with them haha)

I thought I was the only one who felt that way! Freakin pendejos!

Easy guys, lol let's not get a flame-war started here....

I went to an open house there before... I believe they said they try to get 66% in-state. The school was awesome.

Ur tellin me 🙂 We start sunday....gettin a little antsyyyy

So jealous haha. I loved the school so much when I visited that if I don't get in I might just withdraw everywhere, move to Philadelphia for in-state status, retake the MCAT, and retake all of my classes below an A, then only apply there the following cycle.

EDIT: Ok, I know that's overkill... but you get my point 🙂

Why does PCOM care about in-state residency so much if it's a private school? Is it because of PCOM's commitment to serve the local rural communities in Pennsylvania?

Sorry i'm no help. they definitely said but I went awhile ago and I don't remember 🙁 Sorry, I'm in-state so it wasn't something that I wrote down or mentally took special note of.

Its not about serving rural areas...its more about producing physicians who will serve the residents of Pa.

BTW the first day went well 🙂 Only a short period of time but we met our anatomy groups.

Today at orientation the director gave us our class' stats. I dont remember everything obviously...but 66 percent are In staters. There were 6500 applications for our class..and our class is 250 students. Apparently there is a 12 percent increase in apps this year.
