Is becoming a dental lab technician help me for Dental school? I am thinking to apply to Dental school this cycle or maybe next.
Right now, I am working as a medical assistant. I am thinking to get a job in the dentistry field in order to learn more about this field and might be benefit for the dental application.

Therefore, is dental lab tech a good job to help me for dental school in the future?

Thanks much

It definitely would, but it’s also not an easy job to get. It takes skill and just like anything, the longer you do it, the better you get. So they are hesitant to hire people who just want to use it as a gateway to something else. Because frankly, at that point, you don’t have much to offer them. Shadowing dental
labs is also an option.

I guess I don't understand the question. Is there an instance where it is not a good thing to put on your application? I suppose if you got fired.

He’s asking if it’s worth pursuing a job in a dental lab. He is already employed, but wants a job that would look better on a dental school application. So should he leave his job as a medical assistant to try and get a job as a dental lab technician to better his dental school application. That’s his question.

What practitioner wouldn’t want his/her lab work done by someone who had no formal lab tech training?

I think it would be better to work as a dental assistant, but even this is unnecessary. Shadowing is enough.
