Is being poor disadvantaged?

I'm not too sure if I should fill out the disadvantage statement.

I live with my dad and stepmom with a family income of $19k. During highschool I lived with my dad and 3 older sisters, and our income was around $20k. My mom passed away when I was 10, and my dad didn't remarry until I was 21. I work for my dad 40+ hours a week for the roof over my head and food on the table.

It sucks, no doubt about it, but is it considered disadvantaged? I'm white, I have a loving family, there's no dental/medical shortage in my town, and my highschool was great.

First of all, I want to say that I really respect what you're doing to support your family, and also chasing after your dream at the same time. And yes, absolutely. I believe that is considered disadvantaged.
Keep up the good work and one day, they will all pay off! 🙂

You have more working against you than the average applicant and are thriving and pursing your dreams. I would absolutely fill out that portion.

Yeah, that qualifies on disadvantaged. Props to you man for helping out financially and going to school. Most schools would probably love that story, hopefully you spoke about some of it on your PS, best of luck.
