Any input about columbia orthodontics program?
A friend did his specialty there, and in his opinion things were not as goog as he expected it to be...
What about faculty and research in ortho? and what about the clinical part of the program?
I am interested in academics after graduation, so would IVY Columbia be a good choice for Orthodontics specialty?
At the end of the day it s the money as well..about 70k per year for tuition and living expenses...that s alot for 3 years, isn,t it? ~210k???????/

honestly, the way to approach ortho is just apply to a lot of programs that you think you might be interested and then see what happens. who knows, there is a good chance you won't get an interview at Columbia anyways.

how serious are you about academia? if you're willing to go the full PhD route, then i think you can raise a few eyebrows at many programs you apply to...

except for dental school i had never had the chance to actually see how ortho works,,Since i started working at a big practice with loads of specialists as well as general dentists, I had the chance to actually see what ortho is all about..my surgery is next to the ortho surgery. At lunch break i often find myself discussing with the ortho guy about several cases, seeing before/after photos of his patients and I have to admit that all of this has pushed towards ortho..I really believe it is really fascinating as a specialty. Not that the others aren't, I do love my job and i do believe each specialty has its own magic..probably ortho has sth that probably suits me better...
