Just wondering if anyone knew anything about how far along DMU is in this process.

Hi. I know they are still offering interviews because I just got an email from them last week. Hopefully someone else can give you more details, but they definately are still sending them out. Good Luck :luck:

They will usually schedule interviews into March and April---although whether they have already scheduled them all, I don't know---but doubt it. Obviously, your chances have decreased since time is running out, however they are still actively/busily interviewing.

yes, they are still interviewing. just got an invite yesterday via email. scheduled for 2/18. the email also stated that they interview most thursdays and fridays through april.

That's fantastic! Good luck and be prepared to have people treat you really well!

Yup they are still interviewing....

DMU is becoming more and more particular about who they ask to interview based on the new administration.... They want higher GPA, higher MCATs, etc.

So for those of you who got invited or have interviewed consider yourself fortunate.

Good luck.

I wouldn't say that, we discussed this among other interviewers and agreed that the applicant pool just has higher stats q year. I know that when I interview, I take the grades into consideration but I always look to see how well-rounded the person is first.

since you both seem to be part of the admissions process at DMU, could you tell me if there are still spots available, or if i'll be interviewing for a place on the waitlist?

Huh... That's interesting... I just heard it from the "horses-mouth" sort-to-speak (i.e. the dean and the president) from board meetings that the "quality of the students have gone up with higher GPA and higher MCAT scores" and that they wanted to attract more students like this and provide them with the scholarships to help with educational expenses.

You're absolutely right, though. DMU prides itself in selecting applicants that are well rounded aside from pushing numbers to fill spots... But I'm feeling that there has been somewhat of a shift... Then again, I may be interpreting this incorrectly.

Either way, I think an invitation for an interview to any medical school as an opportunity not to be taken lightly.

Yes there are still plenty of spots and you're not interviewing for a waitlist. Good luck

Again, "the quality has gone up...."--meaning that the applicant pool over the last two to three years included higher grades which means statistically more people selected with higher scores. I think this trend is seen across the board at all osteopathic schools as well as an increase in the number of applicants (per AACOM). But if you interview yourself or talk to people that do, you will see that even top scored applicants can be turned away if they have no people skills, etc.

People skills are definately a must. But it seems like compared to last year we are interviewing slightly higher numbers this year. I hear what you are saying about the applicant pools numbers going up I wonder how long that will last as a whole?

Do you think my chances of acceptance are pretty decent if I have already interviewed? I am assuming that if DMU invited me for an interview they are interested in my candidacy.

If DMUs invite you for an interview it's cuz the adcoms think you are admittable at least on paper. The intervierview is to see what your personality is and how you would fit it here.

i got an interview invitation from DMU for the 11th of february
