Hi everyone! I applied early decision to a school, and attended an informal interview with the head of the program last week. I have a formal interview with this school scheduled on 10/4, which was scheduled before I met with the head of the program and visited the campus. I never received anything from this school yesterday, not even a notice that I was being moved to the general admissions pool. This has caused me to have some second thoughts on my early decision choice. I was wondering if anyone knew if an acceptance from this school (if that actually happens) would still be binding, as it is occurring past the early decision admission date. I did contact PTCAS, who directed me to the school as it would be their choice, but I’m a little uncomfortable inquiring as I’m afraid it may negatively affect my admissions process. I know this is an odd scenario but if anyone has any thoughts they would be appreciated!

I'm experiencing the same dilemma. I applied ED but bc the ED deadline was for applicants seeking an earlier start date, and I want a later one, I think my application got moved to regular admissions. I even had an interview last week and was told I would have a decision by yesterday's deadline. I think it's unfair that we have to abide by the rules when schools don't. Especially if it's a "binding" contract. But to answer your question, I'm guessing it isn't binding now that you're in the regular pool of applicants.

I agree entirely, if I can meet the standards of having all of my materials in on time, I don’t see a reason why schools should not be held to the same standard. Are you planning on sending out more applications now that the ED deadline has come and gone?

Yes, but I was banking on this program which was my mistake. Some schools require sup essays so we'll see what I can complete by Oct 1st deadlines

I would take a look at the submitted application to the school (check status > download application pdf). If you CTRL-F and search for designations you'll see the way you applied. I meant to apply for early decision but I was apparently late (?) and was moved to the regular pool. It said this on the application. You may be in the same boat.

Thank for this info. It does say I was moved to early decision but I'm wondering when this status change occurred.
