It occurred to me the other day that Goljan came out at least a few years ago, but I'm not sure exactly when. Given that review books are updated every year, is there any chance that his audio lectures are becoming less useful, or even (worst case scenario) semi-harmful if he's emphasizing the wrong thing now or whatever?

Note: My instinct is that this is not the case, but it has me wondering.

A little... but he's definitely still worth the time

i thought his audio came out 8 years ago. I have friends who went to falcon who said his audio back then was better than him now haha

i don't think so, i used them and a lot of my friends used them and they were fine for us... the material hasn't really changed. i wouldn't use it as your sole source though.

I agree, I feel that path is less prone to change than subjects like pharm. If you are using the older edition of RR just make sure to look up the errata

i only noticed it on a few things

the one that stands out was when he asked "what is the only virus that has a vaccine that can prevent the disease??" I immediately and proudly blurted out HPV ... but then he went on to say HBV ... saying that it was the only virus with a vaccine .... a little outdated

but i mean the majority of stuff in there is gold and will never change (ie physio relationships etc.)

I agree.. Goljan is still the man for patho. If you have covered most of FA,then you can pick up some of the outdated stuff in his audio easily. I remember that one on HBV vaccine... I was like "only?" " I thought there were 2 HBV and HPV" so yeah these audios were recorded in 2002 I think ..but who cares ..if you can listen to them once..then you've strengthened your patho concepts.

Actually, I think he was talking about vaccines that can prevent CANCER. He only mentions the HBV vaccine preventing hepatocellular carcinoma. I guess this was before Guardasil became a mainstream vaccine against cervical cancer.

Another Goljan 'faux pas' was when he was talking about rabies and skunks being the number one cause in the US. Actually, raccoons are more common. He was correct when he said dogs are most common worldwide though.

Regardless, Goljan is a great resource.
