Is health insurance generally covered by employer as W2?

Employers only covers a portion of health insurance roughly 50%. Is it generally standard to have to pay 50% of the remaining monthly premium for health insurance as W2? If 1099 I understand, but not sure about w2.

Or did I get hosed?

It’s whatever is in the contract... a lot of Cadillac level plans have disappeared... did they discuss benefits prior to signing the contract

I'm reviewing the contract right now.

Just wanted to know what's the standard setup for private practices. Do they usually cover 100% of the insurance premiums?

Just to clarify, are you asking if it’s normal to pay monthly towards your insurance premium? I think most jobs do that. Sometimes my patients will mention how much they’re paying monthly for insurance and how their spouse won’t add them to their plan because it’s an extra $500/month.

Yeah thats what i mean.

How common is it for employers to cover the full monthly premiums for employees is what im asking?

For example, for husband and wife, our monthly health insurance premium quote is around 2k. How common is it for an employer (private practice vs hospital based) to pay the premium for us as part of the benefits package? Does it matter if its w2 vs 1099?
 
If a pain group is offering you a 1099 it’s probably because they don’t want to pay you benefits or retirement matching
 
you typically have an employer and employee portion on the health insurance. Very rare to be all employer paid. If so, it is just coming out of your total comp plan anyways.
 
Employer and employee share the premium cost. Except if you ARE the employer. Then, you pay the whole thing.

Consider a High Deductible Plan with an HSA. That way you still have catastrophic coverage but can go get a PRP injection or third level RFA if you ever need it.

not common even at hospitals, the last place I went to phase out Cadilac plans 5yrs ago virtually every place I interviewed in the last 2 yrs use high deductable PPO plans or cheaper HMO plans. you pay a portion and they kick something in your HSA. Fully covered health insurance without out-of-pocket cost has gone the way of pension. It exists but its rare. its expensive most places give you a sheet with projected expenses. Still cheaper than my wife job(she is a partner) which would-be employer and employee cost.
