Hi.. wondering if I should e-mail and ask who will be interviewing me. That way I will have some background on who it is and I can mention their research, possbily ask questiont that pertain to this person.. any advice? This is for UC Davis particularly
 
Generally they don't want you to know ahead of time. I tried to find out at a school last year and they were not receptive to it.

ive heard of people looking up info on their interviewers beforehand. im not sure if they were given the information or if they asked for it.
 
I was informed in advance of who would be interviewing me. The schedule had an entry to the effect of "8:30, Interview with X, Member of Admissions Committee."

I agree that it's nice to be able to look up even basic information about an interviewer beforehand, but I think it's fair to say that if they don't tell you, they don't want you to know.
