I have a 3.1 and in my senior year and was wondering if it would be better to do a 5th year at my UC school or to go to a cal state school and do an informal post bacc? What classes should I take in either one (i didn't fail any, just c's and b's)?

Probably whichever one is cheaper/easier/better for you. As for which classes, that depends on your goals. If your goal is an MD school, take whatever science classes you think are easiest to get As in. Unless your BCPM GPA is fine in which case take easy liberal arts classes. If your goal is a DO school, then it might be best for you to retake those Cs and get As. DO schools allow you to replace your grades.

Cheaper is better. Go to the place where you think you can pull the highest grades.

I am in the exact same boat and I plan to take one year's worth of classes at SF State. I calculated that a full year of all A's would only bring up my GPA by about .1 but my UC pre-med advisor said if you can pull it off and give a good reason for why you didn't do well before ( ie worked a lot, health problems...) your one year at state speaks volumes to adcoms. Do it!
Also, I was an MCD major, so I felt like I took the same cell bio class over and over again. I plan on taking relevant pre-med classes like phys and immunology...
