Hello,

I had a 3.5 sGPA my freshman year, but due to a horrible couple classes my sophomore year, i went down to a 2.4. It went slightly up junior year to a 2.7 and as i took more higher level classes, i was able to end with a 3.65 my senior year. Is this considered an upward trend or would it be kind of all over the place? I am studying for the mcat know and hoping to get a high score to make up for it, as i financially cannot take more classes after graduating.

thank you

I think if you're able to demonstrate 3.7+ for a year in a post-bacc, then it'll definitely appear as a U-shaped upward trend (which are very common, according to Goro). As of right now, you've really just bounced back to where you started off from during your freshman year.

This is a U shaped curve, with only one recent year of good grades. Assuming an even course load, your cumulative GPA is around ~3.0. You will need additional course work.

So what is your cGPA and sGPA? When are you planning to apply? It seems from the figures you’ve given your GPA is barely 3.0 and that’s low for any med school. Even though you indicated to can’t afford extra class work, you are really going to have to figure out a way to do it. Good luck on the MCAT, although it won’t make up for your very low GPA.

So i have a 3.35 cGPA and a 3.0 sGPA. I know i might have to take some time to save up for the classes. I am taking my mcat soon so im hoping i can get a score high enough so that i can prove i am able to handle the material. thanks for your reply
