Not that its easy to find work in retail either, but on the other forum I've read a lot about how much opportunity pharmacists have in a number of areas. But it seems like the vast majority work in retail or at hospitals.

Nuclear pharmacy or work in an industrial setting is something that appeals to me, but I don't want to go into this journey with unrealistic expectations. Is it realistic for me to find a job like this after graduation? I'm particularly concerned b/c of the surplus of pharmacists everyone seems to talk about here.

Thanks.

This path doesn't appeal to me, but I have talked to several people in the Rutgers industry fellowship, and they said that job prospects are quite good for them. Of course that would have to entail getting into that fellowship first, and I hear it's quite competitive. I want to do an industry rotation though, and who knows, maybe I'll like it.

that rutgers fellowship program is HIGHLY competitive 🙁

I have several friends that just graduated in May that got jobs in nuclear. We had a special track at school where you could get the extra training so that probably helped them alot.

There are jobs out there......you just have to approach it like a competition instead of someone walking up and giving you a job.

...?

Pharmaceutical Industry is the #2 area of job loss in the United States behind government lay offs. Over 100,000+ people have been let go in the past two years with more to come. Many fellowships have shut their doors and getting a job after a fellowship is no longer a 100% sure thing.

Yes. Your statement and mine aren't mutually exclusive. I agree that it is not easy to find a job, and that MANY fellowships are closing, but as I said before, people in the Rutgers fellowship seem to still be getting jobs, if they can get into that fellowship. Will they have that job 1 or 2 years down the road? I am not sure, but they are still initially getting jobs.

This is just my impression from people I've talked to in the fellowship. Who knows, maybe this year's graduates of the fellowship won't get so many jobs anymore...
