I plan to work about 16-18 hours a week with a "loaded" schedule. My fall semester schedule looks like this:
Organic Chem
Intro Neurosci
and 2 psych classes

*note that orgo and neuro have labs with them too. Oh and i go to a top 20 university..so it may be a challenge. I usually worked about 10 hours a week this past year, but now that i only have 2 science classes I am hoping i'll pull it off? Also if many of you feel its manageable, would you take a genetics course as well? I would either have to take it the year after or load, any suggestions?

that would depend on you. of course it would make things easier if you got a nice campus job such as an office clerk and you would be able to do homework while working.

I work 32 hrs/wk during school as a nurse aide on surgical at our hospital. Maybe my course load isnt as hard...Developmental bio, Zoology both w/labs, chemistry nutrition and statistics...I guess it depends on your study habits and how easy your employer is to work with if you have a major test, need time off, etc.

Playing college football is a larger time commitment than 16/hours a week and I'm taking rigorous schedule as well, it's do able (time management 101). Not saying it's fun haha

From my experience a full schedule like that takes up 8AM-5PM M-Th and 8AM-12PM Friday. (I'm assuming these are classes with lecture and labs. Non-lab schedule would probably go from 8-2PM for M-Th.) If you were to work 9-5 Sat and Sun, that would mean that you would have ~5 hours for each night on Mon-Th and another ~5 on Friday if you stop studying at around 6pm to go out. I'm gonna assume there is no studying on Sat or Sun. That would mean that you would have 25+ hours of studying per week. That would be enough for me.

Yeah it's doable. I didn't used to think so but I pulled it off this year and you can too!

It's certainly doable. You'll just have to stay on top of things. I usually take that much and work 40 hours weekly at a hospital. You can do it!!!! 🙂

I did Eng Comp II, Chem II (+ lab and research project), Ethics and Business Law, worked 30-50 hrs/week and volunteered ~5 hours per week. And I still had time to hang out with friends a couple weekends a month and watch TV/play video games. It's actually pretty easy once you get past the first couple of weeks and figure out how much time you need to devote to each class.

Yes, of course. What you're proposing isn't all that bad, honestly.

That's two shifts a week, it could be done on the weekends with no interference to classes- if you can't handle that, I seriously doubt you could handle medical school/residency.

Yes, but life is a lot easier being dermatologist who works 16 hours a week and makes 250K (but that kind of money may not last)

^ I thought it was around 30-40hrs/wk?
It's their choice. If a dermatologist manages to do a lot of ridiculously expensive cosmetic procedures with cash, I think it is doable.

But it is only a matter of time before the derm DNPs crash the market.

Back to the topic, yes, but only with excellent time management.
