Hey everyone,
So December has started and I'm starting to get a little paranoid now. I have only gotten 2 MD interviews out of the 31 schools I have applied to. I like to think I have fairly competitive stats (34 MCAT 3.49 GPA), at least competitive enough for an interview? When do you usually get interviews? I'm getting stressed now because I don't even know where I am going to school yet.

EDIT: Do not suggest Gap Year, that is never an option for me. Especially because I have gotten a few DO acceptances.

It's time for preparation for a gap year. You certainly could get more interviews and some acceptances later in the year most interviews are gone for MD schools.
3.49 GPA is ok but not stellar...something seem to be holding you back. What's the breakdown on your sGPA/cGPA and your MCAT? What did your ECs look like?

Your profile says you're a Medical Student (Accepted)? I'm confused. As for not knowing where you're going to school, most people don't decide for sure until April 30th, so that shouldn't be a worry at all.

I concur. One should always have Plan B in this process.

if you've received any rejections, you can call Admissions Deans to get feedback.

Also, your MCAT is great, but the GPA is < avg. Do you have a strong upward trend? Where did you apply? Too high??? And when did you apply.

And yes, it's late in the cycle.

I have gotten a few DO acceptances. However, MD is my primary goal.

There is a strong upward trend starting from 3.2 and ending with 3.8. I applied to many lower tier MD and extremely early, few days after I would receive a secondary, all in summer.

You have at least 4 IIs, I wouldn't worry about being a reapplicant.

Personally, I got two MD IIs this week, so they're not all gone by this point. You may get more, you may not.

If you don't get into an MD school, then go to one of these DO schools that accepted you. I don't know what other kind of advice you could possibly get. Definitely do not give up your DO acceptances to try again for MD next cycle. That's a bad plan.

Obviously, that's the only choice I have.
The questions I had were: If it was late in the cycle and people have answered yes. Also, will schools give out many II's later or not? Lastly, are my chances promising to receive IIs?
I am currently wait-listed at CMS, and seeing that it is an un-ranked list I am not too hopeful.
Also waiting for an on-campus interview after completing telephone interview at WMU.

MD schools usually fill up 2/3rd or so of their classes by now, and then get very picky about the rest. If there's no special hook about you, I suspect that it's too late.

Unless you get an MD acceptance, take the DO and run and stop worrying. Tons of people would kill to be sitting on multiple DO acceptances.

Wake-up call time! You DON"T have competitive stats. You have an average MCAT for MD, and a below-average GPA. So if you got into an MD school, that would be surprising. You need to be happy you got at least DO, because you a far from a competitive MD applicant

What are your ECs because your GPA is pretty average and your MCAT is good (a lot better than mine). But if you do not have good ECs that stand out, some schools may look at you like you are "cookie cutter." But do not stress out, you have a DO acceptance so at least you know you have somewhere to go. Plus, you have MD interview invites so just practice with your family/friends and try to rock them if you would rather do MD but obviously do not take a gap year if you do not get an MD acceptance because that would be a waste of time and if you take a gap year, why would you even bother to apply to DO programs. Posts like this get on my nerves

I already have mentioned I am not going to take a gap year. :bang:
It is pretty obvious that I would rather go to DO than waste a whole year of my life without a guarantee at MD.
My only question was is it too late to expect MD interview invites or not...

It's not too late, but your chances at another invite are quickly diminishing as the new year begins. Most interviews have gone out, but there are still some that haven't been accounted for. Also relax, most applicants don't know where they're going to school until sometime in April anyway. DO acceptances means you aren't going to be left empty handed even if you don't get an MD one.

Thank you, that is quite reassuring.
In fact, I received an II this morning, for an in-state school, so that was quite exciting!👍
