Is it necessary to memorize the solvent for each reagent on the DAT?

I understand its imperative to memorize the reagents for the ochem section but is it necessary to memorize the solvents that accompany each reagent? I know its important to distinguish the protic vs aprotic solvents but what about socl2/pyridine. Is memorizing pyridine needed? thanks

In chad's 4.1 alcohols, he mentions SOCl2 being known as thionyl chloride.
Also he drew out the structure of pyridine and noted that it was worth memorizing.

I feel like anything chad's says is worth listening to just because of the great amount of support he gets on every single breakdown i've seen so far.

Maybe be familiar with them? With more and more practice, you will start to expect what the solvent will be because you will have seen it a million times in the practice questions. Stick with knowing the reagent though of course.

Know the solvents for your Sn1/2 and E1/2 reactions and yeah, basically any others that Chaddy mentions.

I would memorize it. Sometimes the material you think is useless ends up being like 3 questions on the exam:d

I took the DAT a few months ago and I had 2 questions asking me about solvents and about 3 questions asking about reagents. Go over Chad's videos and the reactions on Destroyer and you'll be more than fine. Good luck!
