Is it normal to be invited to tour a school while on the waitlist?

Just got an invitation to tour the school by the director of admissions. The invite was sent to everyone who interviewed, regardless of they were waitlisted or accepted. I would LOVE to go to this school, but I’m not sure how willing I am to tour a school that I’m not necessarily going to. The school is a 4 hour flight away, too. Are there any odds that going to this tour would help me get off the waitlist?

Showing a demonstrated interest in the school is never a bad thing, but--odds on--it will have no meaningful effect on your chances of admission. An update letter reminding the school of your continued interest would probably accoplish the same goal at a fraction of the cost. I would only go if this school means the world to you and the cost of making the trip would not be a material burden.
