Is it okay that it's taking me more than a week to finish secondaries?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
21 secondaries? How many schools did you apply to?? I applied to 23 and got like 8 so far

Obviously everyone's answers going to be either speculative or too narrow to apply to all schools, but I think most people on SDN say about 2 weeks is the maximum.

In terms of absolute timeline, if you have already been verified, finishing everything within the month of July should still place you on the top pile for most schools.

You should try to respond to all secondaries within 1-2 weeks of receipt, prioritizing your top viable choices first (e.g., if you're a 3.6/31 who has to choose b/w submitting apps to NYU, Creighton, and Colorado, do Colorado first, then Creighton or NYU since NYU would be generally beyond your range with those numbers, while Colorado is still viable but probably preferable to Creighton for most people).

Sorry to hijack but do you guys know if this also applies to people who haven't been verified yet? I received a few secondaries from schools that send it out to pre-verified applicants...I'm wondering if it's necessary that I send them in ASAP since my application won't be complete until a few weeks later anyways.

Once you hit a certain point, it's a matter of fitting essays you've already written to new length constraints

(From someone who's applying to about 35-40 schools and expecting around ~30-35 secondaries)

There's no point in submitting secondaries before the primary is verified. Some schools even don't allow this.

I sat on my secondary for a month before submitting to the school I'll be going to this fall. It's obviously a good idea to submit as early as possible though (as long as quality isn't sacrificed for the sake of time).
