Is it possible to go to dental school with a transcript like mine?

Can I do it?

Hello everybody,
I am interested in going to dental school but I feel like the classes that I messed up on in the past may effect my transcript and not be eligible for dental school when I apply in 2 years or so.
So far for my freshman year I took Bio 1 (B), freshman seminar (A), Art (B+), English 1 (B+), Bio 2 (C-), Eng 2 (C), Pre-Calc (F), Philo (B+).
In that summer I decided to re-take pre calc and took chemistry on top of that. And got a C- in Precalc and a D- in chem 1.
Sophomore year: Elective (A), Genetics (F), Chem 1 - again (d+), and an incomplete for a intermediate seminar.
At this point I was doing really bad, and before in high school I was diagnosed with A.D.D. but figured I probably won't need it in college. So the first year of college wasn't bad, it was relatively easy, but my second semester was horrible. And taking the summer courses was a mistake, and then coming fall semester for my sophomore year I did absolutely horrendous. I didn't want to, but I had to get re-diagnosed with A.D.D. and went on medication. So sophomore spring semester I took Cell Bio (c-), chem 2(B-), and Elective (B+). I only took 3 classes because I was worried, but definitely I will do better from now on. But If I do good from now until I graduate will I still be eligible to apply and get in? My current GPA is 2.537 =(. Please be honest, and I'm sorry for typing so much. Also I have been working at a dental office for almost a year. My spring semester is slightly better due to my medication, and I'm sorry if any of you guys don't support medication use, but I honestly need it.

My thoughts are that you need to start making A's in science classes or you are going to have a difficult time getting in. Also its never too late to start thinking about the DAT, but I would work on making better grades if I were in your shoes.

If you are really serious about dental school, you might want to consider getting a master in an upper level science program. This would be a way to reset your application, hopefully you could get As.

Also, study really hard for the DAT. Good luck.

It's not too late, but you may need an extra year of undergrad to boost your GPA. Stay focused on school and remove any distractions you may have (i.e. too much computer use, video games, tv). Cut back on your social life until you're able to get A's in all of your classes. You have to show dental schools that you are serious and you can handle the rigorous science classes. If you can, stop working while you hone you study skills. Its time to get focused on school so you can have a career as a dentist. Good luck!

thank you ! Considering I have my meds now, I won't get distracted anymore, I'm glad I did a lot better sophomore spring semester, but it's still not good enough I know. And I am aware of being held back another year but it's okay, if I start receiving A's from now on, then it should be fine right? And it's hard for me to not work because I am studying out of state, and my school does not have dorms so I have to live in an apartment and I have to work in order to pay for rent. My parents are having a lot of trouble with money so I have to work. I have 2 jobs, one at retail store for the money to pay for my bills, and one at a dental office for the experience. I'm learning quite a bit, but it's only simple stuff.

If you want it badly enough, you can do it. You just need to start working a little harder in your classes and try to stay focused so you can make mostly A's from here on out.

PS. Double up on those adderall doses if it helps. Lol. jk.
