I just submitted my MSSM secondary online and realized there was a HUGE word usage mistake on it. One of my "friends" did it as a horrible joke and told me to check my essay. Naturally, I did that but did not catch on any mistake, that is until I submitted it and checked it 2 days later.

Any chance, I can email MSSM adcom about this and correct it?

Thanks for any much needed help

advice? get a new friend.

but seriously, you can probably email them and see if they will change it for you. at this point, i doubt that your app has begun teh review process, so if you get someone who is sympathetic in the admissions office, they might help you out. all you can do is ask.

yeah, what kind of friend does that? hopefully the admissions ppl are understanding. good luck!

Some friend!!!

Come on...fill us in...what did your friend change?

I misspelled "clinical" and "biochemistry" in my Baylor secondary. no kidding.

i'm screwed if i can't change it..pretty much ruins the whole essay

damn...that is funny

sucks to be you, but it is fun for all of us...

In my dorm in undergrad, we would always mess with each others papers. The part that sucks is when they spell it correctly and spell check doesn't catch it. Then you have to carefully re-read your paper before you submit it.

Is your screwup as funny as the other one in this thread?

oh man, that is freaking funny. sucks to be you, my friend. write/email them and see if they'll add a note to your file, that's about all they can do. I wrote Baylor about my spelling errors and they said they'd put my note in my file. Kinda ruins the whole thing when I call attention to my own stupidity in my file.

hehe...

anyway, it's not such a big deal... they'll probably just get a kick out of it if it can't be changed... a lot of people on the boards will tell you that little attention is paid to secondary essays, at least not as much as the scores in most cases, which logically and practically seems to be more and more of the case and schools screen less and less... i don't know if MSSM screens for secondaries or not.

if you're invited to an open-file interview i'd say definately laugh it off. definately laugh it off now too, it is pretty funny. being worried about it can't help you, it's out of your hands after you call and email.

btw, there is a feature in ms word to show the last that were made 🙂 (when SCO sued AutoZone they published a ms word document that had this on it, where AutoZone was seen to have replaced some other corporation at one of the last editings). and a password protection feature... and you can always go the backup route...

 sounds too suspicious. your "friend" seems too familiar with your paper. are you sure she didn't write it for you? and you failed to proofread? 😛 good luck anyway!
