I have a few questions .......maybe somebody can answer them for me ..

If someone [US. Citizen] does MD in USA ... passes all USMLE exams and
Step 3 .....then due to some family situation / spouse has to move to
another country like England/ Australia / Germany .... if they do the
Residency in that country and then eventually come back to US .... what
would be the option ?
1) Can that person work in US ? since they did MD in USA ....and had cleared
Step 3 also ...
2) would the hospitals hire such a person ?
3) does the person has to do a Residency in USA to be able to practice?
4) Can that person do a Fellowship in the USA directly ? since they did
5 - 6 yrs Residency training abroad ?

- perhaps, depends on the country

if they do the Residency in that country and then eventually come back to US .... what

- perhaps, depends on the specialty. Many do not accept residency training abroad, or only give you partial credit.

1) Can that person work in US ? since they did MD in USA ....and had cleared
Step 3 also ...

A medical degree is not a medical license. An unrestricted medical license requires not only passage of Step 3 but a certain amount of post-graduate training. Whether or not a state licensing board accepts your training abroad depends on the state and where you trained.

2) would the hospitals hire such a person ?

Perhaps, if you were hired for a research position, were an international expert in your field. But hospitals are increasingly looking for Board Eligible physicians to hire. Without doing a US residency, many specialty boards will not consider you BE. That is not to say it is impossible, but it may become so in the forseeable future.

3) does the person has to do a Residency in USA to be able to practice?

See above. Usually yes. It is best to do your residency in the country in which you plan on practicing for the rest of your career.

4) Can that person do a Fellowship in the USA directly ? since they did 5 - 6 yrs Residency training abroad ?

Yes, in many cases but it depends on the fellowship. If they do not require you to have graduated from an ACGME accredited program, you may be eligible for the fellowship without having done a residency in the US. This is the entry to a US practice for many, although generally in the academic sphere.

I agree with the above.

In general, unless you've done a residency here in the US, you won't be able to practice medicine here.
