Quick and dirty, I had a roller coaster ride of grades with many straight F semesters. Every once in awhile I would get a decent semester of B's and some A's but my depression would usually rear its ugly head again. I got diagnosed with depression, did therapy found out what I wanted to do in life(swapped from engineering to bio) and started making the grades. Is it time to apply?

First 115 credits ranged from straight F's, A/B's.

last 93 credits(over 2 years) = 3.95 @ 20+ credits a semester all hard sciences except for 9 credits (only 1 B in evolutionary bio and an A- in theater....)

Almost 300 hours at the free clinic, I run/organize night clinics and a lot of hands on patient contact.

Extremely good letters of rec from chem/bio/clinic manager/md & do(from clinic)

Honor societies, AMSA etc

33p MCAT

Overall GPA = 3.027
BCPM = 3.206

198 credits taken, so i don't think taking anymore would really budge it much.
I did retake a few courses as well

AACOMAS overall = 3.570
AACOMAS Science GPA = 3.586

I'd prefer to go the M.D. route only by a smidgen, with my dream school being VCU. Of course if anyone accepts me ill be extremely grateful 🙂

I will be applying to three schools this go around since it will be late in the cycle and I am just throwing it out there. Any suggestions on more I should do? What I should do with this year off? Any comments will be excellent. Thanks!

You've got some good credentials. As long as you apply with near a 3.5 or even better (Higher) Then you will be okay if you apply broadly for MD, DO would be more secure especially instate.

I applied AMCAS with a 3.48 cGPA and got into my instate medical school UMDNJ.
