I have not finished submitting all of my secondaries. My gpa is average and my MCAT is below averae..23..Is it to late to submit the rest of my secondaries and have a chance of getting in to a DO medical school? I know that if I don't submit I eliminate my chnaces but I am considering retaking my MCAT and starting the cycle again next year. What do you think?

I dont think its to late, just finish them as soon as possible and get them in. Also, you may want to call specific schools and ask them what they think.

I am in the same situation as you are. Still trying to complete secondaries.
You should submit them asap. You might get into at least some schools. Maybe your top choice.

I'm also working on secondaries, so hopefully its not too late. I do know that many schools are already interviewing and have accepted some students. I think they may still consider competitive applicants. Good luck to you.

But you'll probably be limited in your options. Most schools have begun accepting students on a rolling basis, and thus the total "available" slots are shrinking.

But I know for a fact that our school was still conducting interviews late into June (and several of those folks ended up being my classmates), and I hear that students at other schools have interviewed as late as July.

If you're pretty flexible as to which program to attend (and just my opinion, I think virtually all of the osteopathic schools are fine institutions to train at)... then go ahead and see what happens. Each year you put off from your education is one year you're taking away from your future salary! I recommend calling their admissions office and maybe shmooze the secretary into giving you the heads-up as to whether or not you have a legitimate shot at an interview/acceptance.

Something else to consider. Because of the rolling admissions... you're also going to have students that were accepted early, paid the deposit and still pulled out to attend a different school. Happens all the time.

I say go for it and submit the secondaries. You have gotten this far and if you do not get in then you can retake the MCAT. But if you do not apply you will definetely not get in. you may get in this year and render retaking the MCAT moot. I say apply and see what happens. It is not too late even though spots are being taken up. Good Luck!

😕 Why didn't you finish your secondaries yet? No one on here has any idea whether or not it is really too late, but I know that a lot of the schools are already filled with interviews through February. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to get an interview and an acceptance. I don't honestly know if you have much of a shot at this point in time. I have a 23Q and a 3.2 and still have not received the supplemental to UNECOM because they were waiting for me to finish organic 1. When I called their office two days ago, I asked them for a realistic opinion on whether I should bother at this point in time. The woman told me to save my money because you have to be really competitive at this point in the application cycle. Sorry! 🙁 That is probably not the case everywhere, but I don't know. I would say that if you don't have that many left to do, go ahead and send them in. But, have a realistic expectation for the outcome. Good luck! 🙂
