I haven't taken DAT yet but I wish to apply for 2007. The end of October will be the soonest I could take DAT. The deadline for the dental school I want to go, namely UIC, is Dec 1st. What do you guys think? Could I still make it?

Also, which bio elective do you think will be most helpful (in other words,,which prepares me better for dental school yrs)? immunology, vertebrate anatomy, or neuroscience?

i'd say go for it. you are late but that does not necessarily mean that you won't get in. Apply now and kick ass on the DAT.

Immuno seems most relevent.

DAT at the end of October seems like it might be on the late, late end of things. But with a strong application it is never too late. Make sure you fax your scores to the schools. Why not bump up the DAT to late September/early October? I assume AADSAS is already busily doing its magic to your application.

The deadline for your specific school does not mean that the adcom doesn't start looking at applications before that date. It only means that you can still apply if all of your application (to include secondary) is received by that date. You can compete for any unfilled spots. Schools send out the first round of acceptance letters on December 1. Ideally your application, secondary, fees, and interview happen before that date.
