So here is my dilemma. I am a fourth year at a med school at an american program in Israelwith a bit name american university affiliation. I have always been sure of going into IM or medpeds. However, after the first week ofmy subI in medicine, I just dont know if I can handle this residency for 3-4 more years. I have had EM in the back of my mind for the past few months but never really pursued it. However now I am realizing that so much of what I love about medicine is in the ED.

My question to you all is: It is too late to consider and apply to EM? My Step scores are both 99s and I did very well 3rd year in my clerkships. However, I do not have an EM letter yet and would have to change next month's clerkship to EM and hope to get a great letter from that. Am I crazy for thinking this is possible? Can I apply with only one EM LOR? I am also an IMG even though we have a well known program with an american affiliation and match very well.

Thanks so much or any advice,
J

Sure... you can always apply with one EM LOR (preferably a SLOR) but you'll still need at least two other LOR's (doesn't have to be from EM).
