I completed my secondary application to Loyola in September. Apparently, my application has been reviewed but needs to be reviewed again.

I call them every Thursday to check on my status and they never tell me when my application will be reviewed again!

I am totally qualified to attend Loyola. I have a 34 MCAT and 4.0 GPA, a Master's Degree and a lot of clinical experience. I interviewed at Harvard last week.

WHAT IS UP WITH LOYOLA?!

DO I HAVE A CHANCE?!

😱

they definitely do interview people who have been put into the re-review pile frequently. with those stats, i'm not sure what's up...but i'd be very surprised if you didn't get an invite eventually.

Yes, quantitatively you are qualified...but what about qualitatively qualified?

Your numbers are awesome, but keep in mind not all schools are looking for people with only high numbers. Is there anything besides the numbers that make you stand out or were you someone who placed all focus on academics and did not attempt to become involved in more than one facet of college life (and life in general)?

Just sit back and relax dude! Not every school is going to automatically kiss your backside (hahaha like that one Miss MollyMalone?)

I am also reviewed/to be reviewed again at a later date. I dont know what that is about. Just accept/reject me.

What is a troll? I know that I am not a troll.

I am also due to to be reviewed again . . . . in Janurary. Is it true that even if they offer a interview after Janurary it would only be for waitlist?

I wonder if it is even worth interviewing later on...especially if they already fill up the entire class. Wait lists suck.

I also wonder if they aren't interviewing me b/c they think that I will get accepted to better schools and won't attend. I think I should be the one to decide if I want to go to a school - not the school.

Hi!, I have virtually the same stats as you and I'm instate. I've been calling them as well and I have received the exact same response.

I guess they are kinda picky as to who they interview, but you have to remember that it is still generally early in the cycle. They'll still be handing out interview invites for a few months.

But Good, luck and you're not alone...hope that some inspiration

That was my thought... If a school filled its interview slots with applicants who don't seem interested in that school and who will wind up matriculating elsewhere then who will attend that school??

If you interviewed at Harvard, why are you interested in Loyola. If you have strong reasons to choose Loyola over Harvard, then outline that in a letter and send it. Call and tell them, too. If it seems sincere, you might get an interview.

how do you know if you've been reviewed/re-reviewed?

*poke*

Have they put everyone on hold or have they flat out rejected people (pre-interview) yet?

good luck to everyone who applied to Loyola...seems like a great school

They have flat out rejected plenty of people pre-interview. They screen for their secondary so if you didn't get one its a flat out rejection. As for people who got the secondary I don't know if any have been rejected.

i interviewed in the first week or so of january and i was accepted straight to the class, not the waitlist. probably changes a bit each year. january would be really late for any other school, but because of how loyola interviews, its not that late at loyola. we only interview somewhere between 1 and 5-ish people per day, pretty much every day. this comes out to maybe 18 or 20 people/week, which contrasts sharply with some schools which interview many many more every week (i interviewed at mcw as one of 60 or so in my interview day). anyway, loyola looks at a lot more than numbers, so if your numbers are low you can get an interview and if you have high numbers but they don't think you'd fit in you might not...sorry for those of you frusterated at loyola, but just keep on waiting. it comes down to being a roll of the dice sometimes and its really frusterating. best of luck.

*sigh*, january is really not THAT late. I agree with what you are saying, it depends on the school. So many people on this site freak out about January interviews, and really if the school interviews till March or April, then I wouldn't be too concerned that you are interviewing for a spot on the waitlist...

Everyone is so concerned, thinking that if they don't have all their interviews by now it's hopeless, but people keep turning up saying that people got into schools last year who were interviewed in January and even February. That was even after those people had been "under review" for months...

Just saying, don't worry so much 😎

so i haven't even gotten their secondary yet. do they just take a really long time? i've received wisconsin-madison and wakeforest, why is loyola so slow? should i call them?

They screen?

I've been on hold post-sec for a while now. I loved Loyola when I visited it. Just don't know what it takes.

Same here....when I called they said they reviewed my app but will be reviewing it again before offering an interview.

FYI- Dean Norstram at Loyola has openly commented that the Admissions Committee is interviewing at a pace which still allows students to interview even in February for a live seat in the class. So, just because you may not have been granted that special interview yet (and I'm in that boat, too), doesn't mean that it won't happen...and just because it may not happen until February, does not necessarily mean that you'll be sitting hopelessly on the waitlist instead of their lecture rooms. 🙂

probably like this guy will never come here forget him hehe j/m

does anyone know how stringent their screen is?
do they read the application or grant secondaries based on numbers?

thanks

Loyola has a reputation on these boards for accepting almost all the people who interview early on, filling up the class early, and then waitlisting everyone who interviews after the first of the year...

It's just not true. There were plenty of students I talked to on my interview day who said they interviewed in Feb or March, after being on Loyola's "Hold" category for a few months. That said, it is beneficial to interview early, because they do accept a higher % of individuals who interview early on in the season.

My interviewer even mentioned this to me - he said something along the lines of "I'll go to the admissions committee on your behalf and recommend that you be accepted - I wouldn't worry too much, since you're interviewing early on." He did say that "blood beings to boil" later on in the season as committee members tend to argue about who to place in those last few spots in the class, and who to waitlist...

Loyola's secondary screen is based on GPA and MCAT only, from what I understand. I remember 25 being the number required to pass the MCAT screen, not sure about GPA.

It's not a very stringent screen. It's only meant to weed out people who wouldn't be the least bit competitive numerically, regardless of other factors in their applications.
