My personal statement has the theme of my years as a premed being a journey. My last sentence is something to the point of "I know I am ready to continue this journey as an MS1".

Ok to use that acronym in the PS? Or is it just abbreviation speak for students

If I were you, I would just write "continue this journal in medical school" or "as a medical student" etc...

It's "legit" in that med schools use it. But it's an abbreviation, not a word, so you shouldn't use it in a sentence like that. Just say "medical student."

UW Madison and other schools by me don't use that term, they use "M1" and "M2", they don't have an "S" in there.

Pretty sure everyone would know what you're talking about though. I know in physician assistant schools they use something like PAS1 and PAS2, and its like super official. Its an actual title that they put after their name when they sign stuff.

Long story short, the adcom will definatly know what you're talking about, but it seems kinda informal. Stick with 'medical student' in a PS
