I am worried that I am not strong enough for my "top schools" on my list. This may be a case of imposter syndrome but could definitely use some help. I am also worried about being yield protected at some of my "target" schools due to numbers.
Me:
White, 20 yo. 3.85 gpa 525 mcat (132/130/132/131). Upward trend on the gpa (3.6, 4.0, 4.0)
Research: 1500 hours bench research at my university (2nd author pub, 2 posters, 1 semi competitive fellowship)
500 hours at NIH for a summer program (1 poster, will have pub but after app cycle probably)
250 hours on an Art History independent research project (did not mention in app, saving as ammo for secondaries and interviews)
Clinical:
100 hours hospice patient care
200 hours hospital internship
30 hours shadowing a pediatrician
Service:
150 hours teaching english to refugees and newly arrived international students at a nearby school
150 hours big brothers big sisters
50 hours reading buddy at low SES school
120 hours camp kesem (summer camp for kids who have a family member with cancer)
Other:
150 hours chemistry TA
Undergrad research ambassador
Eagle Scout
Mentoring a child with autism (not in app, ammo for secondaries and interviews)
-I am concerned I do not have the leadership experience they are looking for at the top schools.
My list:
Vanderbilt, Northwestern, Stanford, Mayo, Dartmouth, Duke, Penn, Washington St. Louis, Yale
UNC, East Carolina, Wake Forest, UVA, Emory, Case Western, Georgetown, Jefferson, Drexel, Mount Sinai, Albert Einstein, Boston U
Is this okay or do i need some more mid tiers like keck etc. Or do I just go with this.
