I'm a cell bio and neuroscience major (and econ minor) from Rutgers University New Brunswick. I have a 4.0 and an mcat breakdown as follows 12s in sciences and an 8 in verbal reasoning. My verbal score worries me....should I retake it? I somehow doubt i'm going to do better than a 10 in verbal.....

I've done research before (100+ hours), have taken part in multiple clubs and activities, and am otherwise decently well rounded. I just want to get an interview. I'm thinking of applying to Drexel, Penn, Pitt, RWJMS, Hershey, NYU, Jefferson, NJMS, JHU, and Boston

I'm in the same boat. 8VR and high sciences.
I've gotten mixed answers from calling schools, but places like AMC and SUNY Upstate told me the 8 wouldn't be a problem considering the high sciences. So some schools definitely would be okay with the 8VR. But you might need to call individually.

As a general rule, I was told to stay away from schools where I fell below the bottom 10th percentile. So if the bottom 10th percentile VR score is 9 or higher for a school, it might be risky. But that's just what I was told. Definitely would like to see what others have to say about this.

Some of those schools are a really big long shot, but you've got a very good shot of getting in somewhere (cite: https://www.aamc.org/download/270906/data/table24-mcatgpagridall0911.pdf). You'd be more competitive at more schools with a better VR score, but I don't think it's going to keep you from becoming a doctor.
