Is my school list okay?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
with your dat score and gpa, even with strict OOS schools, you might an interview but not guaranteed acceptance.

if you're gonna apply to Uconn might as well apply to Washington, UF, OHio, UCLA, and UCSF. (your chances at UConn as an OOS applicant are slim since class size is small)

colorado has seats open for WICHE or states with no dental schools but again with your scores, you might get a look.

applying to Columbia but not to Upenn?

BTW: minnesota has 30% OOS (i suggest you apply)

Well, firstly, I don't have a lot of money and applying to 15 is already a lot for me (financially). So I really don't want to add on more schools unless there is a absolutely good reason not to apply to one of the ones on the list.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic with Washington but...I only have 10 credits of physics and Washington requires 12 credits. They also have 13% OOS rating and they tend to favor states around them that don't have dental schools.

So my reasoning for no UPenn is that it's ridiculously expensive. Columbia at least has P/F system. Harvard is, well, Harvard. I just want to see if I can even get an interview. Also, instead of applying to UPenn, I thought I'd put BU in there since I feel like I'll have a much higher chance of getting into BU v. UPenn?

Maybe I'll take out UConn and Colorado and put in MN and UPenn?

I'd probably drop Colorado. I know uconn tends to take oos from the surrounding area (ny, nj, etc)..not sure if Virginia is considered in that area.

upenn offers scholarships..

didnt know you had 10 credits of physics instead of 12 like most people would have. ok axe out washington. UCSF should be in your sights if you have enough credits.

Okay. I guess Colorado is out =/ I think UConn may have taken one person from Virginia last year but that might mean that they're not looking for anymore Virginians this upcoming year? =(

I'm always weary about relying on scholarships because I never know if I'll even get it =/ I'll definitely take a look.

And I'm pretty sad about the physics thing. I don't have time to take another physics class, but I really do love Washington as a place so I really want to apply there 🙁

What attracted you to Minnesota, if you don't mind me asking.

UConn has a small class size, yes, but they do accept 50-ish percent OOS. Most of these are from the New England area. I got in from WA, my roommate in from MI, and there were some from FL, as well.

If your stats are set like that I think 15 schools may be more than you want. Personally I would cut out Midwestern IL, BU, VCU, and Colorado, possibly michigan and maybe add Penn (And hope for the scholarship). Definitely apply to UCONN, it is a fantastic school and don't underestimate the fact that you can get in state tuition after the first year. Thats just my opinion though!

Edit: Definitely leave VCU if that is your state school

😱 If I was a WA resident, I'd totally bolt for Washington. Anyway, thanks for the encouragement! It's staying on my list =)

I really want to get in this cycle and so I'm definitely applying to 15 schools - it'll cost more to go through the process again if I don't get in. I've taken out BU and Colorado. Added UPenn. Thanks!
