It does not appear too top heavy since you have your 2 state public schools on your list.
Is it really just use those public schools as the fall back and then aim high for the rest?

As far as OHSU goes, on their website last year they used to have a hard cutoff of like "3.7/512 for OOS residents" but they changed it to "Superior Achievement in academics and extracurriculars." I guess that change in wording gave me a different sense of what they are looking for. It is a far undershoot, but again we only have 3 MD schools in all of the PNW and I would love to stay here if I can. Plus they give decent aid to high stats folks it seems.

Madison is also a far undershoot, my wife just likes the area....but you know, if I had to choose between almost any other school and Madison I would pick the other school. And if I am getting an acceptance from Wisconsin, I am almost certain I am getting an acceptance from somewhere else too...Can I be that confident and just shoo it off?
Yes. But you do have other schools such as Western Michigan that will be attracted to your high MCAT.
Righteous, thanks for the information!

Only 1-2% of OOS applicants get accepted at ORHS.

I'm a fan of applying to places where you have the highest likelihood of success, not "I'd really like to go to school there". hence, I'm more doubtful on U WI than ORHS.

Your call.
