Is my score competitive?

Hi, I took DAT today. I thought I have messed up and think about retaking it december(appling 07-08 cycle, I am not sure if it is too late or not). But some people said this is competitive score. I applied to NYU, Temple, Boston, Howard, Tufs, VCU, Marquette, and Buffalo at NY. My GPA is not very good (~3.1 because I messed up my fresh and sophomore year. yeah it is very torture now even thoguh I didn't know this day would come 🙂) I am working as dental assistant at Pediatric dental office and some volunteer work. Am I a competitive candidate? I am so depressing with think about studying these freaking material one more time 🙁

I wanna say you are right at the borderline, its gonna be really tough to predict.

First thing first though, if your GPA is 3.1, I suggest you check in the NYU website first. They changed their requirement this year and have a cutoff for GPA at 3.2 (or 3.1, you might have to check on that).

Your GPA is on the lower end of applicants, and your DAT score is alrite (PAT is awesome by the way). However, at least you didnt score less than 17 on any section, which would allow you to make the cutoffs for schools if you have them...

If you have applied to your state school, I think you have a good shot at getting an interview there. If you are a under represented minority, that would also up your chances. Judging from the schools you applied to, it seems like you have done your research well too...

This is tough. I think you maybe able to get an interview or 2, but its just my speculation. Good luck!

To be competitive your scores (GPA, AA and PA) need to be at least at the mean for the schools you are applying to.

I've got a similar story. . . 3.1 science gpa and 3.3 overall. 25 on PAT, 18 AA. . . I can't remember all my scores off the top of my head. I applied May 16 and have heard back from 5 of my 14 schools I applied to. I got 2 rejections right off the bat (Loma Linda and Case), then got 2 interviews (ASDOH and UNLV) and a waiting list (Midwestern). I don't feel extremely competitive, but at this point I can breath a little more. Hang in there.

Thanks for your encourgament. I am really worried about QR & RC section. I don't have solid GPA and background. So just like you said I can't breath. It sucks when the result comes out like not so well not so bad. So, what you suggest me to not to retake DAT? By the way, you must have moved quick if you are in already, congratu!!!
