Is Oct 15 magical for MD/PhD also?

So, I was told by an interviewer that I would hear from them "next Friday" which I took to mean the Friday that just passed, and I heard nothing. And then I started to wonder if he meant this coming Friday...

I guess my question is, are MD/PhD programs allowed to tell you of acceptance before October 15th? Looking at old acceptance threads, virtually nobody found out before Oct 15 in the past.... at least that posted. Any details?

Well, even if they are allowed, MSTP committees tend to meet less frequently and admission must be formally agreed upon by both MSTP and MD committees. This tends to push back decisions. Both of the schools at which I've interviewed so far told us to expect decisions/status updates early to mid November. Another (smaller program) at which I will be interviewing does not make decisions until all interviews have been completed in Dec/Jan.

And then on the flip side, UW says their admission director calls you TWO DAYS after your interview regardless of the decision! Yikes. 😱

But anyway, I'm pretty sure they can't say anything until 10/15, and even then most programs only will accept their top few favorites that have interviewed to save room for later interview dates.

Woah dude. Chill. You'll give yourself an MI worrying this so early. I didn't even have my first interview until Nov... and I ended up having 12, with multiple acceptances.
