I'm only planning to take COMLEX since I'm a below average student so I'm wondering if it's worth it to memorize/spend a lot of time on pathoma. Is pathology/pathophys a big deal on the COMLEX just like USMLE? What should I focus on? Thanks

Just a 1st year but I was told the other day that the COMLEX is even more heavy on path than the USMLE because USMLE tends to be heavier in the basic science subjects like Biochem, genetics, etc.

Don’t skimp on subjects, that’s a good way to fail boards.

(anyone who has actually taken the exams can correct me as this is just what I’ve been told).

Focus on everything. If you're a poor student, that alone emphasizes starting now and going hard. Make a schedule and stick with it. Get some coffee.

The 1st boards test the same things but USMLE just does it better. Pathophys is a huge chunk of both level 1 and step 1.

COMLEX Level 1 has more neuroanatomy, microbiology, and pharm. Def more path and phys on USMLE.

Another bad thing about comlex is the tests aren’t standardized. And topics aren’t evenly dispersed. Mine was a ton of micro and pharm with a load of poorly worded cardio phys questions. I didn’t have many neuroanatomy. My gf had a ton of hematology stuff.

That’s why it’s such a bad test on top of the wording. Depending on which you you get, your scores can be drastically different.

You're in for a very painful time during boards if you think that Pathoma has a lot of material needed to memorize.

Pathoma is superficial, very basic material. You should know everything on it.

Couldn't agree more.
